  1. INSTALLING AND EXPANDING

  3. The Stereopticon Demo Version will run from the Stereop2 disk with no
  4. installation, but if you want to expand Stereopticon to the Full Version,
  5. you must first install it by writing a short file to the S drawer of your
  6. boot disk.  This file is called "SYS:S/SOStart" and tells Stereopticon where
  7. to look for the Stereop drawer.  If you expand your copy of Stereopticon
  8. (see below), SOStart will also contain your personal Expansion Code.  Stere-
  9. opticon will write SOStart for you automatically.

  12. SYS:S/SOStart file before you run Stereopticon.

  15. FLOPPY DISK INSTALLATION
  16.  
  17. If you have a floppy-based system, you can install Stereopticon now.  First
  18. make sure the boot disk is write-enabled, then click the red box at the end
  19. of this paragraph.  A {[A19,0,7]file requester} will appear.  Use it to locate the
  20. SO-Locate file in the Stereop drawer and double-click the file name.

  25. HARD DISK INSTALLATION
  26.  
  27. First, copy the complete Stereop Drawer from the Stereop2 disk to your hard
  28. disk.  For example, to copy it to hard disk partition dh0:, open a Shell
  29. window and enter these two commands:

  31.    COPY Stereop2:Stereop TO dh0:Stereop ALL
  32.    COPY Stereop2:Stereop.info TO dh0:Stereop.info
  33.  
  34. Or, from Workbench, just drag the Stereop drawer icon from the Stereop2 disk
  35. window to the dh0 disk window.

  37. Then remove the Stereop2 disk from your system, open the new Stereop drawer,
  38. and double-click the Stereopticon2 program icon.  A file requester will
  39. appear.  Use it to locate the SO-Locate file in the Stereop drawer, and
  40. double-click the file name.

  43. EXPANDING STEREOPTICON
  44.  
  45. Stereopticon 2 is "codeware".  The freely-distributable Stereop2 disk
  46. contains the complete and latest version of the program, but until you enter
  47. an Expansion Code, multitasking is disabled while processing and saving
  48. stereoscopic pictures, and all saved stereoscopic pictures will be covered
  49. with the word "DEMO".

  51. To obtain your personal Stereopticon 2 Expansion Code, send a check or
  52. international money order for US$30 to Ernest Ruckle, 13 Parnell Street,
  53. Waterford, Ireland.  Payment may also be made at the current rates of
  54. exchange in the currencies of the EU, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, and
  55. Australia.  Your reply will be sent by air mail and includes a set of
  56. red/blue filters.  Add $1 for each additional set of filters.

  58. The Code contains a coded form of your name and a combination of characters
  59. that will trigger the expansion of the program.  It  will be between 18 and
  60. 48 characters long (depending on the length of your name) and will look
  61. something like this: TY5UIH AKM2FG TYUILL W8REPP VBNZ4X.

  63. When you have the Code, make sure Stereopticon is correctly installed as
  64. described above, then click this box:

  68. If you entered the correct Code, you now own the Full Version of Stereop-
  69. ticon 2.  Multitasking now works full-time: press LEFT-AMIGA-A to come and
  70. go.  When you exit this User Guide, the word "Demo" will no longer appear
  71. on the main interface.  And, of course, you can now save your stereoscopic
  72. pictures.  The next time you start Stereopticon, the program will skip the
  73. introductory {[P09,4,7] picture } and start faster.  Instead of the picture, a small
  74. panel with your name on it will appear.  Press a key or mouse button to
  75. speed its departure.

  77. Keep your Expansion Code in a safe place.  You'll need it again if you move
  78. the Stereop drawer or use a new boot disk.
